Aprés Ski Vol. 22013-01-31 04:36:08
The dangerous shot-ski...
A bunch of scandinavians
But still, this is nothing compared to the european Aprés Ski. I miss it, come an Banff, make it happen on hill!
Another great tuesday2013-01-30 04:28:29
Me, Chrstine and Cameron had a really good day at Sunshine today, even though it only snowed five cm last night. We were all around the mountain and the sun kept us a bit warmer now when the temperature's been around -18 degrees. We´ve been used to warmer weather for a while, it's been feeling like spring time - in January. But however, let it snow a lot now, please!

Had the best time with you! @ Bowen, Australia
Lake Louise2013-01-29 07:51:32
Today Christine and I went to Lake Louise for a change. It was my second day over there, and the snow is pretty different from Sunshine I would say. It was a quite easy day, the nachos at daylodge was calling more than the slopes though, probably because of the aprés ski yesterday...
Happy Australia Day!2013-01-26 03:47:12
Today's Australia Day and because it's full of Aussies here in Banff, this will be a crazy night. However, I will celebrate the evening at home on the couch because I have a fever. I had to go home from work, it was a horrible day... By the way, sorry for being bad at updating recently, but i havn't really been in the mood. I'll try to pick it up soon though!
We actually went for some shopping in Calgary the other day, it was nice to do something different for once.
We celebrated Australia Day in Margaret River two years ago.

Love you! <3
I want scandinavian stuff2013-01-17 05:32:53
Look what I just found! Scandinaviastuff.com. At the After Ski we got some Swedish Marabou chocolate from danish Maria, and that made me start thinking of swedish candy and food! Maybe I should order some sweets, or the herring I never had for Christmas... Or Christine and I talked for a few days ago how nice it would be with Rosehip soup (nypon soppa) with ice cream and bisquits. Mmmmmm.
And I want some shopping aswell! Does anyone know a good internetsite for clothes in Canada or the US? Here in Banff it's impossible to find any clothes. And to order from the swedish sites will be way to expensive to send over here. Or maybe there's any lovely person back home, that's thinking of sending me something? In that case, here's my adress!

But please let me know if you send me anything, because if I don't go to the post office and check now and then, they will thorugh the packeges away...
The swedish gang, me, Amanda, Christine and Malin. And finally I got the chance to ski again, I miss it a lot. How much would it be to send over my skiboots, any ideas? I'm thinking about getting a pair of skis over here, but that money issue is kind of in the way...
Scandinavian Apré Ski2013-01-17 05:05:51
Where's the apré ski here in Canada?! It doesn't exist at all, so we had to organise our own european style apré ski. And hey, what a succes! We had Jägermeister, a shot ski, we were dancing to swedish music such as "Vi drar till fjällen" and we were sweating in our skiclothes. Proper apré ski, or After Ski as we call it in Scandinavia!
Yeeaah that's how it's supposed to be!
Mathias was filming all night long... Hmm that movie would be interesting to watch!
The crazy shot ski
Hahaha this video is sooo old! Is it possible to download Snowroller with english subtitles? That would be fun!
Revy - an unreal experience2013-01-16 07:24:57
Our plan was to go to Revelstoke for two nights but it was snowing so much that the road had to shut down for avalanche controls. We had to wait until the next day and go to Revy for only one night instead.
It was the day of the Freeride World Tour, which itself would have been quite fun to watch, but we were quite alone in wanting to use the mountain for ourselves so there was large areas of untouched powder to shred! Revelstoke boasts North America's greatest vertical at 1.713 meters and has only two lifts in addition to the gondola. The rest you have to hike. We started our morning by hiking up a steep hill which took us about 20 minutes. It was not the funniest 20 minutes I've had, it was steep, slippery and deep snow. I thought I was going to die. But oh, it was worth it! When we got up, we had the greatest views, the clouds looked like a sea around us and everywhere was untouched areas with fresh snow.
The first run that morning was the best I have experienced so far on snowboarding. Wow, I just say. Absolutely incredible. We could not stop smiling during the whole ride and it took us around two hours to get to the second lift. We had an incredible day! We spent the night in a motel, where we all shared one apartment. We met up with Lars, our old housemate we lived with in Hemsedal last year and it was fun to see him again! He lives his dream in Revelstoke, that can't be mistaken!

I don't have time to tell you about Revy right now, but I'll try to write a post soon. I just want to let you know that the first run over there was the best snowboarding experience I've had so far in my life. Wow. If you havn't been there, put yourself together and GO there. Like now.
So much POW2013-01-10 06:35:51
Wow, I have never experienced this much powder before. My skibreak today was outstanding. I can't believe that this is a part of my job. I love it! We met up with Shawn who took some shots while we were swimming in snow all over our ears. I'm nacked right now, my legs are so sore. Better go to bed and try to rest so I'm fresh for the awesome day tomorrow!

This is fucking awesome!2013-01-10 06:01:15
Amanda, that song's been in my head aaaall day long, thank's of you! Haha but it describes the last two days pretty well. It's been snowing loads here in Banff and life couldn't be better. Yesterday was such a great day off together with Amanda and her colleagues. And a great day off at the mountain can't end up better than with a couple of beers, right? And to make you even more jealous we got up to the Upper Hot Springs to soften up our aching bodies in a 40 degree hot pool under the stars. What a day!
We were ment to go to Revelstoke today, and we got in the car and were just about to hit the road before we decided to stay in Banff. The snow just never stopped dumping so we didn't want to miss the great day at Sunshine tomorrow. We're going to Revy in the afternoon tomorrow insted, and yes, as I said before, life couldn't be better!
I took some pics from Amanda's blog, here at Standish

Media-whore2013-01-06 05:51:18
Yep, that's me. Two of my three jugs were because I was tagged at Sunshine Village facebookpage, I was Sunshiner of the day and I was in the Wawa conveyer video. The third jug were for falling at the ramp at the Angel lift. That's a no-no when your a liftie. However, because I'm a media-whore, I got a headband. I don't mind being the media-slut if that brings me stuff haha! And the evening was crazy, that's the least I can say. I overslept, big time! Apparently, I didn't wake up from my alarm, so Matt called me and asked where the fuck I was. Still in bed. 45 minutes from work. SHIT! I got there two hours late, but luckely I never got a warning. Next time there's going to be like 20 alarms on my phone....
By the way, please give me a comment once in a while. I had over 100 visitors the last couple of days, so I know your reading!

Nice headband, huh? Straight from the 80's.

How not to ride a chairlift2013-01-06 04:14:48
It's not that hard to ride a lift, but despite this, it seems to be very difficult for some people. I mean, you can't fit five people on a four-chair lift or three people on a two-man lift. There is a safety bar for a reason - so you wont fall off. And hold on to your poles, please don't try to poke my eyes out. Don't go on the chair at the last second, it will make you fly off the ramp. Remember to go off the chair and ride safe!
Please, don't hang from the lift, you can get frostbites
How hard can it be? Haha it's a bullwheel baby in the end of this video, a guy who forgets to unload and goes around. That's so common, how can you forget to get off the lift?
Jugnight2013-01-05 04:01:15
Tonight's gonna be a CRAZY night. Apparently we are going to buy 120 jugs of beer tonight, this can't end well. I'm just not going to smash my face again, hopefully... If you will ride at Sunshine tomorrow you might notice the lifties are a bit tired. Well, this is the reason.

The Wawa loading conveyer2013-01-04 05:20:46
Have you rode the new Wawa conveyor?
Sunshine Village Ski and Snowboard Resort unveiled one of the first loading conveyers in Western Canada at its WaWa Quad Chair. The new conveyor, which is the first of its kind at the world-renowned resort, will offer ease-of-guest flow and shorten lift lines.
Popular throughout Europe and resorts around the globe, conveyers increase comfort for guests while providing fewer stoppages of chair lifts. This results in shorter lift lines and ride times due to fewer stops.
"At Sunshine Village, we remain committed to providing leading-edge technologies in order to deliver an exceptional guest ski experience," begins Dave Riley, Chief Operating Officer, Sunshine Village Ski and Snowboard Resort. "New infrastructure enhancements such as the WaWa Quad Chair loading conveyer, are integral in ensuring Sunshine Village remains competitive on the international stage."
The Wawa Quad Chair is one of 12 lifts across 3,500 acres at the popular ski and snowboard resort, which is located in Banff National Park. Steady snowfall leading up to the holiday season has provided an exceptional 147 cm (58 in) base, with nearly 4 metres (158 in) of snow falling on the resort to date.
